Mahan Mehrvarz | Co-founder & Former Lab director
Mahan is a design strategist and researcher in the field of innovation. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch, and a Master of Architecture, specializing in situated technologies from State University of New York (UB) Where he was awarded the department Chair award for his outstanding works through the design studios. In addition to working as a design manager and developer on both architecture and urban design projects, he is a former researcher of CAST; the Center for Architecture and Situated Technologies and Technē Institute for Arts and Emerging Technologies, and TUIC; Tehran Urban Innovation Center. In 2016, Mahan won the AIA Henry Adams Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects. A part of his masters dissertation “Internet in Things”, which explores the sociopolitical aspects of internet of things, has been selected by the EMAF; European Media Arts Festival in 2017. Together with three other principles, he co-founded Future City Innovation Lab in 2019, where they focus on problem solving through design innovation. In 2021, Mahan has left Future City to follow his passions on entrepreneurship and product design through different directions.
